Polarization


   A circularly polarized beam of intensity I0 travels in the +z direction and is incident from the left on a stack of three linear polarizers as shown in the diagram above. The transmission axes of the first two polarizers make angles with the x-axis of θ1 = 60 ° and θ2 = 130 °, respectively. The ratio of the intensity of the beam at the exit of the three polarizers to the incident intensity is I3/I0 = 0.02.
   What is θ3, the angle between the x-axis and the transmission axis of the third polarizer?
